You can help protect your automobile or pickup against theft by Vehicle Window Etching and the H.E.A.T (Help End Automobile Theft) programs.
The Fort Worth Police Department offers Vehicle Window Etching and H.E.A.T registration at various locations during the year. You can check the Calendar section of the Fort Worth Police Department for upcoming dates, times and locations of these programs in Fort Worth. Follow this link Fort Worth Police Department and scroll down the calendar listing on the right side of the web page. Look for the entries titled "Auto Etching/H.E.A.T Registration."
Vehicle Window Etching
Vehicle window etching is a process whereby a police representative engraves the vehicle identification number onto each window of the vehicle. This visual deterrent may entitle the owner to an insurance premium discount.
H.E.A.T. (Help End Auto Theft) Program
If a vehicle owner does not drive their vehicle between the hours of 1 a.m. until 5 a.m., they may register their vehicle in this Texas Department of Public Safety program. Then, if the vehicle is out during those hours, any officer in the state of Texas has probable cause to stop the vehicle and assume it has been stolen.
